We are very pleased to announce that AIMA has been granted affiliate membership of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), the global standard setter for securities markets regulation. AIMA has long been supportive of increased global regulatory coordination and sees IOSCO membership as an important step in this mission. The membership will provide increased visibility of, and participation in, IOSCO’s agenda and improve the advocacy and representation services we deliver to members.

In recent years we have been fully engaged with IOSCO on their proposed framework for assessing leverage in investment funds as well on the improvements to the global derivatives trading and clearing architecture. Other areas of their work where we have taken a keen interest have been their recommendations for liquidity risk management for investment funds and their proposals for ESG disclosures by issuers as well as the regulation of crypto-asset trading platforms. Especially important are IOSCO’s efforts to reduce regulatory-driven market fragmentation and enhance cross-border cooperation among the regulators.

AIMA looks forward to consolidating our productive interaction with IOSCO and its members who regulate more than 95% of the world’s securities markets. We will be attending the IOSCO Presidents Committee meeting in Dubai next year as well as participating in their other events.
