CHARTERED ALTERNATIVE INVESTMENT ANALYST (CAIA)

The CAIA designation is the standard for professionals within this specialist area of investments, demonstrating an individual’s abilities within and understanding of alternative investment vehicles.

Employees of AIMA member companies are entitled to a 25% discount off the exam fees, and receive $100 off the membership fee when they first become a CAIA member.

CAIA Curriculum

The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst program provides a broad-based curriculum in alternative investments. The program covers the main areas of hedge funds, private equity, commodities, real estate and managed futures.

The CAIA program is organized into two levels, with Level I using investment analytics to examine the fundamentals of each alternative asset class. Level II applies these analytics within an asset allocation and decision-making framework. Both incorporate segments on ethics and professional conduct - essential components of the CAIA program.

CAIA Exams

Exams are held semiannually in March and September at testing centres worldwide.

CAIA Membership

More than 4,600 individuals from more than 96 countries have earned the CAIA designation since the charter was first awarded in July 2003.

CAIA members range from young professionals beginning their careers to seasoned AI practitioners, and can be found in positions from portfolio managers of large institutional pension funds to investment analysts in boutique firms and everything in between.

CAIA Community

Through the CAIA.org portal, alternative investment professionals are invited to participate in the CAIA community. This vibrant online hub brings together CAIA members, candidates, and those considering the CAIA designation for themselves or their staff. You can access the CAIA community through:
