Derivatives/Clearing

The G20 have committed to ensuring that, where appropriate, all standardised OTC derivative contracts should be traded on exchanges or electronic trading platforms, and cleared through central counterparties by the end of 2012 at the latest. OTC derivative contracts should be reported to trade repositories. 

As a result, policy makers in the EU, USA and Asia-Pacific have been developing regimes to put this commitment into effect.
