Given the international nature of the OTC derivatives markets and the commitments made by the G20 to reform those markets, there has been a need to coordinate regulatory proposals globally.
The Committee on Payment and Settlement Systems (CPSS) and the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) have jointly been tasked with setting agreed standards for financial market infrastructure providers, including central counterparties and trade repositories. The CPSS and IOSCO have also taken a coordinating role in helping to reach agreement on the collection and sharing of OTC derivatives data.
