AIMA Economics 2018 outlook with Gerard Minack

Australia

This forum will be held on Tuesday 20th of March 2018, from 12.15pm till 2.00pm.

Prior to Gerard’s talk, Nikki Bentley, Partner Norton Rose Fulbright will give members an update on regulatory happenings in Australia.

AIMA Australia has the pleasure of welcoming back Gerard Minack of Minack Advisors for another insightful economic presentation and update.

Gerard has been analysing financial markets since 1987.  He worked at a number of banks, including BZW, ABN Amro and Morgan Stanley.   He left the banking sector 3½ years ago to start Minack Advisors, which provides advice to global institutional investors about the medium term outlook for financial assets.

Gerard will discuss the following:

  • It’s decision time: when markets go parabolic you have to choose whether to sell and look like an idiot before they top, or buy and look like an idiot after.
  • Why a good cycle doesn’t mean the end of secular stagnation
  • Australia remains a backwater.  What you can buy isn’t good; what’s good you can’t buy.

NB: The venue is the old Henry Davis York Building in Martin Place.

A light lunch will be served.
