Senior Managers & Certification Regime: What will the new UK accountability rules mean for U.S. asset managers?

USA Senior Managers Regime

AIMA is pleased to join with Clifford Chance to present a morning briefing session for members focusing on how the new UK accountability rules may impact U.S. managers.

The UK Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR) is already in place for the banks, and is expected to be extended to all other UK financial services firms by 2019, including asset managers. This event will provide members with an overview of the new rules and address the possible extra-territorial impacts for U.S. managers with affiliates or subsidiaries in the UK.

Topics will include:

  • The essentials of the regime and what firms need to put in place to comply
  • The extra-territorial effect of the SMCR
  • The employment law implications of the regime
  • The need to demonstrate reasonable steps and what that means in practice
  • The unfolding experience of the banking SMCR
  • The approach the regulators are taking to enforcement under the Banking SMCR

This session is suited to in-house legal staff, compliance officers,  human resources personnel and senior management.
