Michael Bugel, Managing Director, Co-Head of APAC, AIMA
Michael joined AIMA in 2016 as Managing Director and Co-Head of APAC and brings a wealth of experience in Asian financial markets and has been located in Hong Kong for close to 18 years. He has held senior positions on the sell side both in New York and Hong Kong. He has held leadership positions at BNP Paribas, Bear Sterns, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan and most recently at HSBC where he managed the banks senior relationships with the Asset management sector with in the Financial Institutional Group. Michael is responsible for the management of all our activities across Asia including our National groups, membership staff, events communications and finances. Together with Kher Sheng Lee (Co-Head of APAC) operate as our senior ambassadors for AIMA in APAC and the Industry we represent.

Michael Gallagher, Director & Head of Australia, AIMA Australia
Michael Gallagher has been Director and General Manager of AIMA Australia since August 2014. He is also Non-Executive Chair of the ASX listed Fat Prophets Global Contrarian Fund. He is a director of the Alternative Future Foundation whose flagship event Hedge Funds Rock and the Australian Alternative Investment Awards has been the key industry charity support event for 18 years. Michael also Chairs Australian Students Asset management, a university student funds management programme designed to align students and industry. Prior to AIMA, Michael was CEO and Co-Founder of Kima Capital in Australia and Hong Kong. He has also held positions as Australasian Head of Equites for Rand Merchant Bank and was a Divisional Director in Equity Derivatives at Macquarie Bank in Australia, South Africa and the UK. Michael holds a BComm in Econometrics and Finance from UNSW. |

Audrey Woon, Managing Director, Head of Asia Prime Services Hedge Fund Consulting, Goldman Sachs (Asia)
Audrey is a managing director and head of Asia Prime Services Hedge Fund Consulting at Goldman Sachs (Asia) LLC, based in Hong Kong. Previously, Audrey was co-deputy head of Asia Pacific Securities Division Compliance and held various leadership roles within Securities Division Compliance at Goldman Sachs since joining in 2005. She is on the Advisory Board of the GS Hong Kong Women’s Network. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Audrey worked in private practice law firms in Los Angeles and Tokyo. Audrey earned a BA in both Government and Psychology from Cornell University and a JD from Cornell University Law School.
Viola Lui, Partner, Clifford Chance Hong Kong
Viola Lui has wide-ranging experience advising on private investment funds, private wealth and financial regulations. Viola has extensive experience establishing private investment funds; advising on fund structuring and legal and regulatory aspects. She also acts for investors on their investments in funds and separate accounts. Viola frequently advises on the establishment and ongoing operation of banks (including licensing applications, customer documentation, policies, booking models, ongoing conduct and revocation of bank licences) and the regulatory aspects in connection with the acquisition, disposal and/or restructuring of private banking businesses. Nikki Bentley, EY Oceania Law Partner, Financial Services and Investment Funds
Nikki advises leading Australian and global fund managers on a full range of corporate, commercial and regulatory issues facing their businesses. Nikki often assists offshore managers entering the Australian market. Nikki has a particular focus on alternative investments. She has assisted many Australian hedge fund managers start up their businesses and establish Australian domiciled funds and Cayman Island offshore infrastructure. Nikki has been recognised a leading lawyer in Investment Funds and Financial Services Regulation by Chambers Asia Pacific since 2012.

Arnold Tan, Co-Head, Funds and Investment Management Group, Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP
Arnold joined Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP as a partner in 1999. His primary focus is in investment funds and related regulations. He leads the Funds & Investment Management Practice Group that provides advice on fund management and investment advisory services and generally on the establishment of both onshore and offshore investment funds. His team represents a broad cross section of investment managers in Singapore across various asset classes. Other clients in related industries include private client and wealth management units of banks, and other financial institutions such as fund administrators, investment fund distributors, trustees and custodians.

Claudia Kwik, Executive Director, Morgan Stanley
Claudia Kwik is Head of Capital Introductions in Asia for Morgan Stanley Prime Brokerage, and has been in a capital introductions role since 2008. Prior to joining Prime Brokerage, Claudia was in an Equity Business Management role and started her career in Investment Banking, covering mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and capital markets. Claudia holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Law from the University of NSW, Australia.
Johannes Kaps, Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder, HS Group
Johannes Kaps is CEO and director of HS Group. Prior to co-founding HS Group, Mr. Kaps worked at Goldman Sachs in the GSS sales team for Asia Pacific. Previously, he invested Goldman Sachs' proprietary capital as part of the Japanese Shares Trading team. Mr. Kaps joined Goldman Sachs in 1999 as an associate and was named Managing Director in 2008. Mr. Kaps started his career at Morgan Stanley as an analyst in IBD. Mr. Kaps earned a BA in International Relations and German Literature from Brown University in 1996.
Julian Ulmer, Head of Asian Research, Lighthouse Partners
Julian identifies external investment strategy opportunities as well as sources internal portfolio managers for Lighthouse Partners in Asia. He began his career on the equity derivatives sales desk at Credit Suisse, first in Tokyo, then in Hong Kong, servicing hedge funds across the region. After five years at Credit Suisse, he joined Arena Capital, a Hong Kong-based Japanese market neutral equity hedge fund, as an analyst and trader. Julian graduated from Princeton University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies.
Julian Liew, Partner, MCP Asset Management
Julian is a Partner at MCP Asset Management responsible for hedge fund investments, based in the Hong Kong office. Prior to joining MCP in December 2010, Julian was a Senior Portfolio Manager at SPARX International Limited and was responsible for running global and Asia-focused FOHF portfolios and also research and due diligence of Asia and global hedge funds from 2005 to 2010 in their Hong Kong and Tokyo offices. Before SPARX, Julian was an analyst with Pacific World Asset Management, a global FOHF based in Hong Kong from 2003 to 2005, focused on arbitrage and relative value strategies. Julian started working in 1998 in the Global Corporate Finance and Debt Restructuring department of Andersen in Singapore, focused on debt restructuring and corporate finance. Julian graduated with a Major in Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and is currently a CFA and CAIA holder and a Chartered Accountant
Clayton Heijman, Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Privium Fund Management
After working with several alternative funds at investment banks such as Goldman, Calyon and Fortis, Clayton Heijman started the Privium activities in 2008. Following the growth in alternative investing after the financial crisis fund managers needed a solid infrastructure and a reliable business partner. Having been a start-up at one time he has built Privium into a global player across many jurisdictions and a several billions in AuM. He sat down with numerous start-up managers over the years and has helped many to become successful in their investment strategy.

Avijit Choudhury, Executive Director, Head of Capital Consulting, APAC, UBS AG
Avijit Choudhury is the APAC Head of Capital Consulting having been with UBS in Hong Kong since 2010. Avijit manages a team working with new launch and existing managers, across Australia, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore, advising on topics to support both the Capital Raising & Institutional Business Building process. Prior to joining UBS, Avijit served in a number of different roles at Bloomberg AIM, Charles River Development and SS&C with responsibility for Hedge Fund, Institutional Asset Management, and Private Banking clients in Europe and Asia. Avijit has an Executive MBA from Cass Business School, London and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from The University of Liverpool.
Thomas Barton, Chief Operating Officer, Aralian Capital
THOMAS BARTON is the Chief Operating Officer and founding member of Aralian Capital. With over 14 years’ experience in buy side operations, Thomas has a diverse skillset across middle office, risk, compliance, fund marketing and due diligence functions. Prior to joining Aralian, Thomas worked with Tudor Capital for 12 years and most recently as head of their Singapore office. Thomas has detailed knowledge of a wide range of markets across Asia, including insight into each market’s unique access routes and restrictions. He is also well versed in a variety of macro products, including FX, rates, equities, and their derivatives. Thomas began his career at Barclays Capital as an associate on the London Metal Exchange clearing floor.
Annie Lai, Chief Operating Officer, Hel Ved Capital Management Limited
Annie is Partner and COO of Hel Ved Capital Management. Prior to setting up Hel Ved, she was Partner and COO of Ward Ferry and Ally Bridge Group. She has over 20 years of asset management experience, mostly in L/S equities. She spent over 13 years with Ward Ferry and had built the group's infrastructure, helping the group navigate through cycles, regulatory and tax changes. She has an MBA from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, is a CFA charterholder and a member of HK Institute of CPAs.
Rory Kennedy, Chief Operating Officer, MuTaka Capital K.K.
Mr. Kennedy is Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of MuTaka Capital based in Tokyo. Mr. Kennedy oversees the operational and investor facing functions of MuTaka Capital and is also a member of the firm's investment, risk and valuation committees. He has worked in the financial industry since 1997 and in the Asian hedge fund industry as a COO since 2006 on both the fund manager and allocator sides. He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst “CAIA” designation and was a founding committee member of the Japan chapter. Jesse Lentchner, Chief Operating Officer, Panview Capital
Jesse Lentchner is COO of Panview Capital, a Hong Kong based equity long short hedge fund which launched in 2019. Before Panview he spent nine years as CEO and Co-CEO of Asia Pacific for BTIG, ten years at Goldman Sachs as the co-head of Asian Execution Services in Hong Kong, Head of Securities in India, and Head of Execution Services in Tokyo. Prior to that he was Head of Sales Trading at W.I. Carr in Hong Kong. He has worked in finance since 1988 and lived in Asia since 1996.

Alex Howarth, Executive Director, Capital & Consulting Group, J.P. Morgan
Alex Howarth is an Executive Director for the Hedge Fund Consulting team for J.P. Morgan. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan in 2016, he was a lawyer by training and practiced derivatives and structured finance with Allen & Overy in London for a number of years. In 2009 Alex moved away from law and into Deutsche Bank’s Prime Brokerage business, firstly in London before moving to Hong Kong in 2012.
Katarina Royds, Head of Investor Relations, BFAM Partners
Katarina is Head of Investor Relations at BFAM Partners, responsible for managing the marketing and client relationships for the HK-based multi-strategy firm. Prior to joining BFAM Partners in 2018 Katarina spent 5 years at Westpac's seeding business, Ascalon, having previously managed the IR and marketing for Senrigan Capital which she helped launch in 2009. Katarina started her career in 1996 in London spending 11 years on the allocator side, starting at Aurum Fund of Funds, then Credit Agricole and Duemme before moving to Hong Kong in 2008.

Matthew Whitehead, COO, Sylebra Capital Limited
Matthew is a Partner of Sylebra Capital. Prior to joining Sylebra in January 2016, Matthew was the head of investor relations at LIM Advisors Limited, a Hong Kong based hedge fund manager. From 2007 to 2009, Matthew worked for Morgan Stanley Investment Management in Hong Kong, where he ran Asian hedge fund research. Prior to that Matthew worked at ABN Amro Asset Management in London from 2001, where as a hedge fund analyst he covered US and European hedge fund research. Matthew is a CFA Charter-holder.
