Former Co-Head of Macro Research at Brandywine Global Investment Management
Chen Zhao is an independent strategist and has recently retired as Co-Head of Macro Research at Brandywine Global Investment Management, which manages over $70 billion in assets. Prior to joining Brandywine Global in 2015, Chen had spent 23 years working at BCA Research Group, an independent research company that specializes in top-down financial market research. As a partner, Managing Editor and Chief Global Strategist at BCA, Chen had launched the firm's China and emerging market services in the early 1990s, and wrote the company's flagship publication BCA Global Investment Strategy from 2005 to 2015. Born and brought up in China, Chen Zhao also worked at various Chinese organizations in the 1980s, including State Economic Restructuring Commission (today known as National Development and Restructuring Commission). Chen holds MA in economics from Central University of Economic and Finance, pursued post-graduate studies at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was a candidate of PhD in economics at McGill University".
