David Postlethwaite

Sustainable Finance Lead, Jersey Finance

David joined Jersey Finance in December 2017. Prior to this David worked as a transactional lawyer in London, Paris and Jersey. He has also worked for a Jersey trust company, assisting with the management, support and development of the Corporate team. He now helps Jersey to achieve its ambitions as a leading centre for sustainable finance.

David was admitted as an English Solicitor in 2009. Between 2010 and 2015 he was also admitted to the Paris Bar as an Avocat.

Before moving to Jersey, David worked for Hogan Lovells in the firm’s International Debt Capital Markets team in Paris. His practice focused on automotive securitisation, structured finance and banking transactions. He advised leading French and UK financial institutions as well as corporates on pan-European finance deals. David also spent time on secondment to several high-profile clients.

David’s current role sits within the Strategic Projects team at Jersey Finance, which supports the development of strategic thinking to foster growth and resilience within Jersey’s financial services sector. Working closely with our industry members, he provides insights and thought leadership that enhance the sector’s ability to respond to emerging trends and opportunities.

As Jersey Finance’s lead on sustainable finance, David is now helping to build and deploy a new strategy for Jersey, developed in collaboration with industry, key external stakeholders and leading ESG experts. Focused on reinforcing Jersey’s capacity and credentials for sustainable finance, this strategy puts the Island on an ambitious course to a position of leadership as a sustainable international finance centre.

In 2021, David completed the University of Cambridge’s Sustainable Finance course, delivered by the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL).
