Director - ESG & Management Company Services, Clearwater
Richard is an independent director at Clearwater, servicing hedge funds and private equity vehicles under a variety of structures and strategies. Richard previously spent over a decade at a large independent Cayman Islands governance provider where he fulfilled a variety of roles. These included overseeing the finances of the group globally, ensuring that regulatory requirements in both Cayman & Europe were adhered to, the establishment of the International offices and acting as an Independent Director.
As the CEO of GreenTech, an entity providing renewable energy solutions across the Caribbean, Richard is able to pursue a passion and combine it with a key work ethic which is delivering results consistently. At Clearwater he will be combining his finance and governance background with his authentic desire and demonstrable experience to ensure the responsible growth and implementation of ESG.
Prior to joining the governance industry in 2005, Richard worked with PwC in both audit and CFO capacities. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants. He has also completed courses at Imperial College Business School and the Climate Disclosure Standards Board specifically on the topic of Board Governance of climate related risks and opportunities, including all Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) requirements and recommendations.
Richard's community involvement currently includes being a voted council member on the Chamber of Commerce, a founding director of the Cayman Islands Renewable Energy Association and an Ambassador for the Island Innovation Initiative.
Richard is also a member of the Cayman Islands Directors' Association and an approved director under the Directors Registration and Licensing Law, 2014.
