In 2001, she established GIC's Alternative Investment Unit, developing and implementing the corporation's entry into Marketable Alternatives – building what would become a multi-billion dollar hedge fund portfolio. In February 2007, she took on the role of Acting Director of the Foreign Exchange Department, overseeing corporate treasury functions and the management of GIC's foreign exchange and commodity exposure. She was appointed Director of the External Managers Department in 2008, overseeing the selection of external fund managers across both traditional and alternative asset classes, and was made a Managing Director the same year.
Adelene holds a degree in Social Sciences (Economics) with honours from the National University of Singapore. She has been a CFA Charterholder since 1993, and has passed the exams required for the CAIA Charter.

She currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Singapore Labour Foundation (SLF) and Fullerton Fund Management, and chairs the Investment Committee for SLF. She is also Chairman of Angsana Fund Management, an asset management company fully owned by SLF, and serves on the Investment Committee of the Community Foundation of Singapore (CFS).
