Sohei Iwai leads JP Morgan’s offshore fund/alternative investment services strategy in Japan. He specialises in offshore fund structuring for Japanese investors.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Iwai spent 5years at Brown Brothers Harriman for offshore fund structuring and 12 years at the Bank of Japan, where he led relationship management with European financial authorities and ESG investment studies as deputy head of BOJ Paris, and structured the Bank’s foreign reserve management program as a portfolio manager. He also engaged in supervising Japanese large financial institutions as a market/liquidity risk examiner.
Mr. Iwai organizes Japan Alts Jogging Club.
Mr. Iwai holds a Master in Financial Regulation and Risk Management of SciencesPo and a Bachelor of Engineering in Architecture from Kyoto University.
JPモルガンで日本の投資家向けオフショアファンドサービス、オルタナティブ投資関連サービスをリード。それ以前は、ブラウン・ブラザーズ・ハリマンで5年間ケイマン籍等のオフショアファンド関連サービスに従事したほか、BBH入社以前は、日本銀行で12年間にわたり、外貨準備運用マネージャー、為替介入、資産買入等の市場取引、欧州駐在を歴任したほか、大手金融機関の市場・流動性リスク管理に関する金融監督業務、考査に携わる。
パリ政治学院で国際金融規制の修士号を取得。京都大学工学部卒業。Japan Alts Jogging Clubを主宰。
