Technical Specialist, Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
Matthew joined the FCA in June 2018 as a Technical Specialist in the Wholesale Markets Sector team, following a 25-year career in investment banking and alternative asset management. He has spent much of the last two years representing the FCA on the FSB’s Working Group on Leverage in NBFI, as well as contributing to numerous other financial stability-related workstreams, both domestic and international.
Before joining the FCA, Matthew served as Head of Investment Risk Management, CIO for Convertible and Equities, and finally Senior Advisor to CQS Management, the London-based multi-strategy, credit-focussed alternative asset manager. Throughout his seven years at CQS, Matthew also served as a member of the Executive Committee and Trading Management Committee.
Prior to joining CQS, Matthew spent 17 years with Credit Suisse, in both London and New York, where he oversaw a collection of trading businesses during his tenure, including the European convertibles, vanilla equity derivatives and corporate equity derivatives desks. He also served as a member of Credit Suisse’s Global Equity Operating Committee.
Matthew graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Economics from Dartmouth College.
