David Lau has over 30 years of professional experience out of which over 20 years have been in the finance industry including hedge fund, financial services, investment banking, commercial banking, IPO advisory, compliance and management consulting.
At Springs Capital (Hong Kong) Ltd, he has been the Chief Compliance Officer since 2012 and is also involved in ODD work serving large international institutional clients. He has been serving in the Regulatory and the Executive Committees of AIMA Hong Kong.
Prior to joining Springs Capital, he was the financial services consulting partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, Arthur Andersen and AT Kearney for the Greater China region, including roles as head of Greater China FSI consulting, global risk management solutions consulting partner and consulting head of FSI strategy formulation and implementation.
Prior to his return to Asia, he worked at Credit Suisse Financial Products (CSFP), CSFB and Credit Suisse Group in the UK, US and Switzerland. He was also involved, from the start-up stage, in a Swiss VC fund that specialized in high technology investments in the Silicon Valley and Western Europe.
David originates from Hong Kong and was educated in the UK from an early age. He received all his three degrees and a postgraduate diploma from UK universities (Queen’s University and Ulster University) including an MBA that focused on finance and derivative trading. Since the 1990’s, he has been researching in operational risk in financial services, rogue trading and catastrophic risk management.
