Founder, Sturgeon Ventures
Seonaid Mackenzie is the founder of Sturgeon Ventures which began in 1998 as a single-family office for an American famil. Seonaid celebrates 40 years in 2025 in the financial services industry; a former US Stockbroker and corporate financier, followed by time on venture capital and other investment committees. In 2001 Seonaid pioneered the concept of regulatory incubation, initially incubating individuals into Sturgeon itself to carry out regulated functions and launch new financial services “ventures”. Seonaid joined AIMA in 2004. In 2005 launched the use of the Appointed Representative Firm into the wholesale markets, originally used for Insurance Companies and Independent Financial Advisors in the UK to sell their products to Retail clients. Sturgeon also had some European Tied Agents before BREXIT. Sturgeon Ventures is also a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) with the SEC. Seonaid today continues to act as the CIO for the firm, and sits on all the closed ended investment committees as an active member, as well as the monthly liquid funds and managed account investment committees.
