Head of Compliance, APAC & Board Director, Galaxy

Anna Gates is the Head of Compliance, APAC, with additional responsibility for Legal & Company Secretariat (Co Sec) APAC at Galaxy, based in Hong Kong. She also serves as a Board Director across four Galaxy entities in Hong Kong, Singapore, Italy, and Kings Cross Execution Services (a Galaxy company).

 

Since joining Galaxy in July 2024, Anna has led the strategy and execution of the APAC Compliance, Legal, and Co Sec functions, providing leadership that enables compliant, scalable, and fast-paced commercial growth across the region. With more than 20 years’ of international experience, she brings deep expertise in design and implementation of compliance, legal, and risk management frameworks, regulatory engagement, strategic business growth and planning, front office trading and treasury management, programme management, complex business process assessment, technology effectiveness, innovation, and blockchain. Prior to Galaxy, Anna held senior leadership roles across Compliance & Legal, Financial Crime (AML, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Fraud), Risk and Front Office Trading within Asset Management, Banking, Insurance, Private Equity, and Wealth Management spanning APAC, EMEA, Middle East and US.

Anna is an active member and key contributor to leading industry associations including HK Web 3 Harbour (digital assets industry association), AIMA, ASIFMA, and the FinTech Association. She has also served as Co-Chair of the ASIFMA Asset Management & Private Equity Regulatory Committee (APAC) and as a member of both the ASIFMA Asset Management Group Committee (comprised primarily of CEOs) and the HKIFA. Through these leadership roles, Anna has engaged extensively with C-suite executives, government policymakers, regulators, industry bodies, and chambers of commerce on regional and global financial policy and regulatory development. Anna holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business Management and is a Certified AML Professional (CAMLP).
