Philip Partnow

Co-Founder & CIO, Chronus Capital Advisors

Prior to co-founding Chronus Capital Advisors, Philip Partnow had a lengthy career in law and corporate finance in Japan, China and Hong Kong.

Mr. Partnow began his career as a corporate lawyer with Sullivan & Cromwell. He then moved to Nikko Salomon Smith Barney (currently Citigroup Securities) in 1999 before joining UBS Investment Bank in 2000 to focus on cross-border M&A in Asia. Currently based in Tokyo, Mr. Partnow, has also lived and worked in Beijing and Hong Kong after starting his career in New York. He is fluent in English, Japanese and Mandarin Chinese.

During his career with UBS that culminated in the role of Vice Chairman of Asia ex-Japan M&A, Mr. Partnow oversaw more than $20 billion worth of transactions. With a deep knowledge of both finance and law, he advised on cross-border M&A and joint ventures, working alongside U.S. funds such as TPG and Carlyle as well as Western corporates including Vodaphone, Diageo and Polo Ralph Lauren. Mr. Partnow's Asian clients have included PetroChina and Shanghai Electric in China, and Docomo and Furukawa Electric in Japan.

After leaving UBS in 2014 Mr. Partnow founded Partnow & Co., a Tokyo based advisory boutique focused on advising foreign engagement funds in their investments in Japanese companies.
