Managing Director, Mastercard Foundation Asset Management
Danilo Simonelli is responsible for developing and maintaining the framework for MFAM’s long-term asset mix and working with the investing team to ensure investment opportunities are evaluated in context of that framework.
Before joining MFAM, Danilo spent more than two decades building his expertise in investing. He served as the Chief of Staff to the chief investment officers at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, where he advanced the strategic objectives of its Investments Division and identified opportunities to enhance its global operating model and overall investment approach. In his 20-year career at Teachers’, Danilo held several key roles within the Capital Markets team, including leading the External Managers Group.
Danilo is a member of the advisory board for the Master of Financial Economics program at the University of Toronto. He holds an undergraduate degree in finance and economics, Laurea cum laude, from Bocconi University and a Master of Financial Economics degree from the University of Toronto. He is a Charter Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder and has ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Outside of work Danilo plays, coaches, and watches basketball along with his wife Luciana and their children, Alessia and Stefano. When they are not on the basketball court, the four of them enjoy cooking together.
