George Long

Founder and CEO, LIM Advisors

George established LIM Advisors in 1995 and has more than 40 years of Asian investment experience. In 1990, George established and ran the Asian Investment Management division of what became Barclays Global Investors (BGI). While at Barclays, George was a member of the Executive Committee for Barclays Group Asia and the Global Investment Committee in London.

Prior to joining Barclays, George was the Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of Gartmore Asia investing across Asia.  Before that, he was Head of Korea for Indosuez W.I. Carr Securities (now Credit Agricole), reporting into the Tokyo office.

He started his career at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company (now part of JP Morgan) as an international banking officer.  After attending its management and credit analyst program in New York, he was assigned to the Japan desk where he was involved in lending to Japanese corporates and financial institutions.

George has been on the board of governors of the CFA Institute. He established the Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts in 1992 and was its President for eight years. He also set up the Hong Kong & China Chapter of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) in 2002, and was its Chairman for five years.

George has an MBA in Finance and an MA in Asian Studies from the University of Washington in Seattle and is a CFA Charter holder.   During his MBA program, he attended a 4 month executive program in Japan on Japanese business and management sponsored by the Keidanren (Japanese Federation of Business).
