Lead Financial Stability Expert, European Central Bank
Christian Weistroffer is Lead Financial Stability Expert in the Directorate Macroprudential Policy and Financial Stability at the European Central Bank (ECB). He has over a decade of experience contributing to international policy work on risks and regulatory issues related to non-bank financial intermediation (NBFI) in global and European fora, including the FSB, ESRB and IOSCO. Prior to joining the ECB, he worked as an economist at the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and in the private sector. His work focuses on financial intermediation, the identification and monitoring of systemic risk, financial regulation and macroprudential policy. He holds a master’s degree in industrial engineering from TU Darmstadt and a PhD in Finance from Goethe University Frankfurt.
