Assistant Director, U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission
Jennifer Porter is the Assistant Director of the Investment Adviser Regulation Office within the SEC’s Division of Investment Management. That office is responsible for rulemaking activities under the Investment Advisers Act and provides advice on policy initiatives affecting the asset management industry.
Jennifer has contributed to the Commission in various roles since she joined the agency in 2010. She served as a senior policy advisor for two of the Division’s directors and as a senior advisor for Chair Mary Jo White. Additionally, she served as a branch chief, senior special counsel, and staff attorney in the Investment Adviser Regulation Office, and she has experience in the Disclosure Review and Accounting Office and the Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs.
Prior to joining the SEC, Jennifer worked as a senior associate in the Investment Management Practice Group at WilmerHale. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law and Middlebury College.
