Haoxiang Zhu

Director, Division of Trading and Markets, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission

Mr. Haoxiang Zhu was named the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Director of the Division of Trading and Markets in December 2021. He leads the Division's effort in overseeing market centers, broker-dealers, and clearing agencies.

Prior to joining the SEC, Mr. Zhu was the Gordon Y Billard Professor of Management and Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management. His other academic appointments included Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, Department Editor of Management Science, and Associate Editor of Journal of Finance. He also served previously as an academic expert for the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Bank for International Settlements as well as a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago's Working Group on Financial Markets.

Mr. Zhu holds a BA in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Finance from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
