Chief Operating Officer, AAAIM
Elizabeth “Liz” Yan currently serves as Chief Operating Officer at the Association of Asian American Investment Managers (“AAAIM”) after more than 20 years of experience in New York City’s investment industry.
Most recently, Liz was a Senior Director at First Eagle Investments, where she covered institutional relationships across the Eastern and Midwest regions of the United States.
Liz dedicates significant professional and personal time to serving Asian American and under-resourced communities. She sits on the Board of Directors and is a currently a high school mentor for Apex for Youth – a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower underserved Asian American and immigrant youth from low-income families in New York City.
Prior to First Eagle, Liz served as Managing Director and Senior Consultant Relations Executive at TCW. Before that, she was Head of Business Development at 1623 Capital, a long-short equity hedge fund. Liz also spent several years as Vice President at AQR Capital Management, where she managed consultant relationships, oversaw existing client relationships, advised on asset allocation and portfolio construction, and discussed AQR’s investment strategies. Earlier in her career, she held roles in the Credit Portfolio Group at JP Morgan and on the Debt Capital Markets desk at HSBC.
Liz holds a BS in Finance and Accounting from Boston College and earned an MBA, with concentrations in Analytic Finance, Economics, and Entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She is a CFA charterholder, a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), and a member of the New York CFA Society.
