Dave Weisberger

CEO & Co-Founder, CoinRoutes

Dave Weisberger, CEO & Co-Founder of CoinRoutes, has over 35 years of experience in market structure, quantitative finance, and trading automation.

Dave started his career at Morgan Stanley where he built their first program and electronic trading systems. Subsequently, he started the non-dollar program trading desk for Salomon Brothers and became the global architect of the firm’s equity trading platform.

While at Salomon, Dave designed their first trading algorithm using Volume Weighted Average Price as the benchmark, and he contributed to the creation of StockFacts Pro Impact Cost Model - using volume and volatility as a proxy for cost, which was later adopted by Robert Almgren and Neil Chris to develop their model. Next, Dave ran statistical arbitrage trading and electronic market making while developing the firm's first quantitatively managed central risk book. Later on, the firm (now Citigroup through merger) asked Dave to run Lava Trading, the smart routing company, Citi had purchased back in 2004.

In 2009 Dave joined Two Sigma, where he started the wholesale market-making business, running Two Sigma Securities.  During his tenure, he oversaw the transition of all high frequency trading businesses from the fund to the broker dealer he was responsible for.

In late 2014 Dave joined RegOne Technologies and in 2015 IHS Markit acquired RegOne Technologies, naming Dave their Global Head of Equity Market Structure and Quantitative Equity Products.

In 2017, he was introduced to the crypto asset space by his co-founder, Ian Weisberger, and decided to join him in founding CoinRoutes to provide clients with one solution to trade algorithmically across the entire market. CoinRoutes is built for the idiosyncrasies of the crypto market structure, helping clients minimize slippage and achieve operational efficiencies.
