Vice Commissioner for Strategy Development and Evidence-based Policymaking Financial Services Agency (“JFSA”)
Hiroshi Okada has been assigned to the current position since July 2025. He is currently responsible for planning the overall policy at JFSA. He is also in charge of following issues; developing a“Regional Financial Power Enhancement Plan,”promoting sustainable finance, promoting financial and economic education and strengthening functions of international financial center in Japan. He joined the Ministry of Finance (“MOF”) in 1993 and has held various positions on budget and financial regulations. In 2013, he was transferred to the United States as Counselor, Embassy of Japan, where he worked as representative of MOF and JFSA in Washington D.C. and followed the development of U.S. fiscal-, monetary- and prudential policies until June 2016. In 2020, he was assigned to the position of director of the Strategy Development Division, where he was in charge of developing strategies and priorities of JFSA and took responsibility for agency-wide top priority issues at times. In 2021, he was assigned to director of Human Resource Management Division. In 2023, he was assigned to Deputy Director-General in charge of supervision of regional financial institutions.
