Managing Director, Investments, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation
Sean Olesen is the Managing Director, Investments of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
Olesen joined the Foundation in 2025. As Managing Director, Investments, he supports all aspects of managing the Foundation’s investment portfolio.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Olesen was an Investment Officer at the Cornell University Office of University Investments, where he contributed to research and investment across asset classes. Most recently, he oversaw the private equity portfolio within the $11 billion endowment. Prior to joining Cornell University, he was a Director, Investments at Dignity Health, one of the nation's largest not for profit healthcare systems, where he supported the management of over $10 billion of balance sheet, pension and other portfolios. Prior to joining Dignity Health, he served as Director, Private Capital and Impact Investing at Ascent Private Capital Management of U.S. Bank, helping manage the private capital investment platform for the Ascent client base and the all asset class impact investment platform for all clients of U.S. Bank wealth management. Earlier in his career, he consulted to Anfield Group, LLC, and was Director, Alternative Investments at a multi-billion dollar single family office.
Olesen holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management, and a BA in International Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of New York, and the CAIA Association.
