Chris Schindler is Strategy Lead, Systematic Strategies at Polar Asset Management Partners. Prior to joining Polar in 2025, Mr. Schindler founded Castlefield Associates, a relative value systematic futures hedge fund, where he served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer from 2019-2025. Castlefield managed proximately 25 independent models focused on identifying opportunities driven by crowded positioning and flows within the liquid futures markets. The firm was acquired by Polar in May 2025. Prior to launching Castlefield, Mr. Schindler spent 18 years at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) from 2000-2018, where he held a variety of roles, most recently leading the Global Systematic Investing (GSI) team, which developed and managed quantitative strategies across major global capital markets and allocated to a range of external systematic managers, from niche managed futures funds to large cross-asset, multi-strategy platforms. Subsequently, in 2016, Mr. Schindler was appointed Head of Asset Allocation and Portfolio Management in OTPP’s newly formed Portfolio Construction department where he was responsible for making investment recommendations to the CIO on total fund strategic asset allocation, including risk factor balance, FX hedging policy, liquid/illiquid mix, alternative risk premium strategies, and active risk allocation. Mr. Schindler graduated with a B.Sc majoring in Actuarial Science from the University of Toronto in 1999 and earned his MBA from the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management in 2007. He is a CFA® Charterholder.
