Christopher M. Schelling is the Managing Director of Private Investments at Caprock, an $8.8 billion wealth management firm serving family offices and ultrahigh net worth investors. Chris is also a contributing columnist for Institutional Investor and author of Better than Alphα: Three Steps to Capturing Excess Returns in a Changing World.
As an institutional investor, Chris has allocated roughly $7 billion and met with over 3,500 managers across hedge funds, real assets, private credit, and private equity funds. Previously, Chris was Chief Investment Strategist of Venturi Private Wealth, Director of Private Equity at the Texas Municipal Retirement System, Deputy Chief Investment Officer at the Kentucky Retirement Systems, and an adjunct Professor of Finance at the University of Kentucky.
Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Illinois. He received an MBA from the University of Illinois-Chicago and a master’s degree in financial markets from the Illinois Institute of Technology as well. He also holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA®) designation.
