Martin is an asset management tax expert and partner at international law firm Simmons & Simmons. His practice covers tax advisory, transactional and disputes work, with a particular focus on tax issues relating to the structuring and operation of investment management businesses, investment funds (including “hybrid” funds) and separately managed accounts and downstream structuring of investment portfolios.  He regularly advises many of the largest and best known managers globally as well as supporting emerging managers across a range of investment strategies.   

Martin has significant expertise in structuring seed deals and revenue sharing agreements, both for emerging managers and also from the seeder’s perspective. He also has advised on a significant number of minority stake transactions, both at inception and later in the manager life cycle.
