Taku Arai

Deputy Head of Japanese Equities, Schroder Investment Management

Taku Arai is the Deputy Head of Japanese Equities at Schroders, based in Tokyo, Japan. He is currently responsible for business and product management for the Japanese equity team. Taku joined Schroders Japan in August 2011 as a Product Manager for Japanese equities. He became a Head of Equities Management, Japan in November 2015 and a Deputy Head of Japanese Equities in October 2017.

Prior to joining Schroders, Taku held several roles of product and client services at global asset managers. He started his investment career in April 2001 as a portfolio manager for private bank clients and global equity products at Citigroup Asset Management. He also worked at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi for three years upon graduation (1998-2001).

Taku holds a MBA degree in financial strategy from the Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy, Hitotsubashi University (2006), and he received his master’s degree in economics from Chiba University (2012) and bachelor’s degree in economics from Keio University (1998).

Taku is a CFA charterholder (2007), and is also a Certified International Investment Analyst (CIIA, 2006) and Chartered Member of the Security Analysts Association of Japan (CMA, 2003).
