Senior Executive Managing Director and Global Head of Liquid Assets, OPTrust
David Ross is Senior Executive Managing Director and Global Head of Liquid Assets at OPTrust, a Canadian public sector pension fund with $27 billion in net assets and more than 117,000 members.
David joined OPTrust in 2016 and currently leads the Total Portfolio Management function, overseeing a total portfolio approach across public market strategies including equities, credit, rates, commodities, foreign exchange, and hedge funds. His responsibilities also span trading, funding and liquidity management, systematic strategy development, public markets analytics, and incubation investments in emerging technologies.
Previously, David spent 10 years at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, where he was Co‑Head of Emerging Markets Fixed Income and FX and a Portfolio Manager on the Global Opportunities desk. He began his career developing emerging markets strategies in roles in London, New York, and Toronto.
David holds degrees in economics from Western University and the University of Toronto and has been a CFA charterholder since 2006.
