Bennett Moore is a Director and RSM’s Leader for the Blockchain & Digital Assets Center of Excellence where he is involved in the creation of integrated client teams across all LOBs to address multi-dimensional client needs and technical challenges related to digital assets, the education of the firm on digital assets and their impacts to our clients and our firm, the development of tools and partnerships to ensure our firm’s ability to serve clients, and the creation of new services related to digital assets. He works in an advisory capacity to various lines of business including audit, tax, technical accounting consulting, risk and regulatory consulting, and transaction advisory services related to the testing, accounting, risk management, and compliance considerations of all categories of digital assets. He is a recognized thought leader by his firm on digital asset security, accounting, taxation, and architectural strategy.

 

Bennett has been an active consultant, auditor, educator, investor, trader, and researcher in the blockchain and digital asset space for seven years and has developed an in-depth understanding of the accounting, IT security, BSA/AML/KYC considerations, regulatory risks, and due diligence procedures for clients spanning across entities such as exchanges, financial institutions, digital asset issuers, custodians, PE/VC/Hedge funds, broker dealers, core development companies, public/private mining companies and more. Bennett has provided SME support on and lead engagements involving communication with various regulatory agencies including the NYDFS, OCC, SEC, FINCEN, and more as it relates to various matters including MSB/MTL licenses, banking charters, unique accounting considerations, and more. Bennett has advised multiple financial institutions through the bank charter application process as well as institutions pursuing non-objection from federal agencies for digital asset related activities. Bennett has developed reports on audit assertions as they apply to auditing digital assets, support on accounting methodologies for complex digital asset activities such as borrowing/lending, staking, NFTs, DAOs, and more, data analysis support on BSA/AML considerations related to the use of KYT software such as Chainalysis, frameworks on operational internal controls around digital asset security and compliance, and various other resources. He gives frequent presentations at internal/external conferences, universities, and national panels.  

 

Bennett is an author of an 8-hour AICPA course on auditing blockchain technology, a representative for RSM on three blockchain initiatives at the Chamber of Digital Commerce, the chairman of the Accounting Blockchain Coalition’s working group on internal controls, and a representative for RSM on three of AIMA’s Digital Asset working groups including Cybersecurity, Trading, and Regulations.
