Mark Pooters has worked at the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) since 2012, specializing in financial stability and systemic risk. His work focuses on understanding vulnerabilities in financial markets and developing policies to strengthen resilience. Since 2016, Mark has been actively involved in shaping the macroprudential framework for investment funds and advancing international discussions on liquidity management tools. He represents the AFM globally as a member of IOSCO’s Committee on Investment Management (C5) and chairs the ESRB’s Non-Bank Expert Group (NBEG) Policy Task Force, where he leads initiatives on policy development for non-bank financial intermediation, specifically asset management. His expertise spans financial stability risk assessment, macroprudential policy, and global coordination on systemic risk issues. Mark holds an MSc in International Economics and Business (Cum Laude) from Utrecht University and is a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) with GARP. With a background as a macroeconomist, he combines technical risk analysis with policy formulation to support robust approaches to financial stability.
