Ruth Jin is a strategic legal adviser to alternative asset managers, sponsors, sophisticated investors, and corporations globally, with a practice focused on private investment fund formation, liquidity strategies, governance, and complex investment and corporate transactions. A frequent speaker at industry conferences and a contributor to leading legal and industry publications, Ruth’s approach to legal practice is characterized by her keen understanding of both the legal and business dimensions of her clients’ needs, as well as her ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable strategies that align with her clients’ business goals.
In addition to advising sponsors across the full life cycle of private funds—from initial formation and capital raising to GP led and LP led secondary transactions, restructurings, and other bespoke liquidity solutions—Ruth has deep experience advising clients on cross-border elements involving countries in the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, and Europe, bringing a truly global macro perspective to her practice. Ruth is fluent in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, and she can read French.
Ruth is known for combining rigorous legal execution with practical business judgment. She works closely with fund managers and investors to translate complex legal and regulatory frameworks into clear, actionable strategies aligned with commercial objectives—particularly during periods of market dislocation, portfolio rebalancing, or liquidity planning. Her ability to navigate shifting global markets and regulatory environments makes her a trusted adviser for clients seeking to capitalize on opportunities wherever they arise.
In addition to her law practice, Ruth is active in charitable organizations. She currently a member of the Economic Club of New York, and serves on the board of trustees of Georgetown University Law Center Alumni Board, China Institute of America, and several other educational not-for-profits.
