Asset Management One Alternative Investments, Ltd. was established in 2010 as “Mizuho Global Alternative Investments (MGAI)”. In November of 2018, the firm was restructured and rebranded as a subsidiary of Asset Management One Co., Ltd., an affiliate of Japan’s Mizuho Financial Group, Inc, and Dai-ichi Life Holdings, Inc. Within its group entities, the firm acts as a gatekeeper, providing a broad range of externally managed non-traditional active investment products, such as hedge funds, private debts, private equities, and infrastructures to institutional investors, mainly Japanese pension sponsors. The firm’s total AUM/AUA is approximately $7.7 billion as of June 30 2023.
Toshikazu Yamazaki is a Director and a Chief Portfolio Manager in the firm. He is responsible for overall hedge fund businesses in the firm, and also for managing portfolios of hedge funds for Japanese institutional investors. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for various financial institutions, including Nomura Securities, Sompo Asset Management. He has over 17 year experience in investing in hedge funds and managing fund of hedge funds portfolio.
