Mr. Monden is CEO & CIO of Axium Capital, investing primarily in Japanese equities with activism engagement strategy.
Mr. Monden spent the first 15 years of his career in investment banking at such firms as UBS and Deutsche Bank in Tokyo and London and the recent 11 years in buy-side. Over the years, he has been deeply involved in public equity investment, private equity, M&A advisory, corporate finance advisory, capital raising, and hands-on management support.
Before founding Axium Capital in 2025, he was CIO of Swiss-Asia Financial Services and Founder and Managing Director of Aslead Capital. Prior to that he was Managing Director at Lone Star Funds where he oversaw corporate investments for Japan including private equity, distressed and special situation investments.
Last year, he achieved historic win to completely replace the board of Tokyo Cosmos Electric whereby he himself became CEO. In addition, while at Aslead, he launched the first ever unsolicited tender offer by an investment fund with full equity funding and without DD to buy 100% of a listed Japanese company. Mr. Monden is a member of Keizai Doyukai.
門田氏は、これまでに上場株投資・PE投資・ディストレスト投資・スペシャルシチュエーション投資、並びに、M&A、資金資本調達、LBO/MBO等のアドバイザリー、ハンズオン支援業務に長年従事。
UBS証券およびドイツ証券の投資銀行部門、ローン・スター・ファンドの日本の事業投資責任者、アスリード・キャピタル、スイスアジア・フィナンシャルサービシズなどを経て、2025年７月より現職。アクティビスト投資に従事。経済同友会会員。
昨年、東京コスモス電機の株主総会において、株主提案により取締役会の完全な刷新を実現するという歴史的な勝利を収める。アクティビスト投資家である門田氏自らが上場会社のCEOに就任した初事例に。また、アスリードでは、上場企業である富士興産に対し、非同意型TOBを実施。これは機関投資家による日本の上場企業への100%株式取得を目的としたTOBとして、完全自己資金かつデューデリジェンスなしで行われた本邦初の事例。
