Gilly Uppal

Founding Partner, CedarKnight Investment Management

Gilly Uppal co-founded CedarKnight Investment Management in 2013, an alternative investment manager to implement investment strategies across structured credit and equity markets. The firm launched its SPC fund with family office investors in 2013 to manage an equity market neutral strategy. Since 2017 the firm has evolved as co-investor using own proprietary capital with its investors.

Gilly’s career history spans across international finance beginning with KPMG in London and New York before moving to banking in 2002 where he developed proprietary trading strategies with Commonwealth Bank of Australia. He later joined BNP Paribas Fortis as Executive Director in Structured Finance to develop and run part of the bank’s desk.

He left banking for the alternative markets sector in 2010 to join Chenavari to establish and run structured finance investments aimed at family office investors before embarking independently in 2013.

Gilly is a member of the UK's Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment and Chartered Institute of Tax, a postgraduate of Business Finance and a Business & Finance Law graduate from Brunel University.
