Associate/Associate Director, Markets, Governance and Innovation

Title and salary dependent on experience

AIMA is the global industry body for alternative investment managers with a specific focus on hedge funds and private credit managers. Headquartered in London, with offices internationally, we represent the industry to key stakeholders globally including policymakers and regulators, investors, the media and the public. We have over 2,000 corporate members across more than 60 countries and run more than 200 events annually for our members around the world.

Role

We are seeking an Associate or Associate Director for our Markets, Governance and Innovation team. The position holder will report to the Global Head of Markets, Governance and Innovation in London and will contribute to and lead work covering a number of areas, including:

  • Responsible investment and ESG
  • MiFID II
  • OTC Derivatives rules
  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Short selling

You will work closely with members to develop guidance material and to represent the position of AIMA members to press and policymakers globally. You will also produce research and peer analysis on current regulatory hot topics, as well as commenting publicly on industry developments through written articles and blog posts. You will have the opportunity to moderate and speak on industry panels and events.

Required skills and experience

We are looking for the following in candidates:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in relevant roles
  • Strong academic credentials, including a degree
  • Familiarity with the hedge fund industry
  • Good research skills
  • A strong interest in policy-making in the UK and Europe
  • An understanding of financial services regulation
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to summarise complicated issues succinctly and accurately
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical capability
  • A desire to learn and pursue additional study.


Further details

This is a full-time role (3-month probationary period) to be based in London with 23 days’ annual leave. Benefits after probation include private health insurance, life insurance, company pension scheme, discretionary annual bonus and contribution towards an annual gym membership. AIMA is a hybrid working environment with office hours of 9am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Ongoing eligibility to work in the United Kingdom is required.
