Events and Membership Analyst/Associate, Americas (based in Toronto, Canada)
Title, salary and bonus dependent on experience
AIMA (Alternative Investment Management Association), a global trade association representing the hedge fund and private credit industries, is seeking an Events and Membership Analyst or Associate (dependent on experience) in its Toronto office to support the growing Americas’ conference program and engage membership in collaboration with the Managing Directors and events team.
Role:
This role is well-suited for a strong communicator with natural drive to build relationships and grow their career in alternative investments (an interest in the industry is a must, although knowledge can be learned). The successful candidate will be comfortable interacting with senior clients and stakeholders in person, over the phone and by email. They will often be working on several projects at once, so should be comfortable multi-tasking and possess strong organizational skills. The role offers the ability to grow in a dynamic industry and a global company, working closely with AIMA senior staff and members.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with members and investors to encourage speaking at and/or attending AIMA events, including flagship conferences in the Americas and smaller regional events
- Draft, send and follow up on speaker invitations in collaboration with Managing Directors
- Keep agendas current as speakers confirm and topics evolve, following initially curated outline with Managing Directors
- Draft copy for digital and social media marketing collateral
- Support sponsorship discussions from a content perspective
- Summarize event content for post-event recaps
- Conduct panel prep calls and recap moderator notes where needed
- Follow up with non-member event attendees and support business development process with the membership team
- Identify and connect with new leads and other prospects for events and membership
- Attend in-person events and conferences on behalf of AIMA
- Speak at select events with welcome/closing remarks and/or presentation slides
- Support select member and investor peer groups.

- A ‘can-do’, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to tackle a broad range of work, deliver impactful value to members and work enthusiastically within a small, decentralized office
- Genuine interest in learning about capital markets, innovation and alternative investments
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, CRM) and a willingness to learn new systems and technology as needed.
