U.S. national security reviews – including CFIUS, sanctions and export controls, as well as the U.S. Outbound Investment Security Program (OISP) – continue to be important considerations for global businesses pursuing outbound investments, strategic stakes and cross‑border transactions.

A&O Shearman is hosting a lunch briefing featuring Catherine Hein and Ken Rivlin, two leading international trade and national security practitioners. The session will be introduced and moderated by Lorna Chen, our CEMA Regional Co-Head of Funds & Asset Management.

Catherine Hein is a former senior U.S. Department of the Treasury official and national security lawyer, with extensive experience advising sponsors, sovereign investors and corporates on CFIUS‑related and national security issues.

Ken Rivlin is the global co‑head of A&O Shearman’s International Trade group, who advises Chinese and international clients on sanctions, export controls and foreign investment regimes across Asia, the U.S. and Europe.

The discussion will share practical perspectives for Chinese and Asia‑based investors, including key regulatory developments and emerging trends affecting cross‑border investment activity.
