From Quant Research to AI: Where R&D Meets Tax Incentives

UK Virtual event

Could your firm’s work on quantitative research, algorithmic trading systems or AI infrastructure qualify for UK research and development (R&D) tax relief? The answer depends on the work undertaken: HMRC’s criteria focus on projects seeking an advance in science or technology through the resolution of scientific or technological uncertainty.

In this webinar briefing, experts from global consulting firm Leyton will explain how those criteria apply in a fund management setting. Using a case study, the session will explore potentially eligible activities and expenditure, the evidence needed to support a claim, and common areas of uncertainty. There will also be time for questions. The session is aimed at technology and finance professionals at firms pursuing quantitative or algorithmic investment strategies, including CTOs, senior technology leads, CFOs, finance directors and tax directors. It will consider how those teams can work together to identify relevant projects and assess whether an R&D relief claim is appropriate.
