In Conversation with the Bank of England

UK In-person

This event is open to AIMA members and invited guests only.

AIMA, in partnership with the Bank of England and Travers Smith, invites members and invited industry guests to join us for an afternoon of discussion and networking, bringing together professionals from across the financial markets to exchange perspectives and build new connections, in support of the Bank’s Meeting Varied People (MVP) initiative.

The event will commence with a market-focused discussion exploring current conditions, trends and challenges shaping the investment landscape. The discussions will be followed by networking drinks, providing an opportunity to continue the conversation with fellow attendees, members, and the Bank of England MVP representatives.

Meeting Varied People (MVP)

MVP is a Bank of England initiative launched in a 2021 speech by Governor Andrew Bailey to broaden the range of perspectives informing the Bank’s market intelligence by connecting the Bank with market participants from a wider range of backgrounds and experiences. Market intelligence helps the Bank understand financial market developments and informs its monetary and financial stability policy decisions.

MVP has built a network of around 870 contacts, and they are keen to expand this community. Participants can engage with the MVP initiative in two ways:

  • As an expert: contributing views on topics relevant to the Bank’s market intelligence work.
  • As an observer: attending primarily as a development opportunity, without any expectation to contribute.

Speakers:

  • Phil Bartram, Partner, Travers Smith
  • Joshua Jones, Senior Manager, Market Structure team, Bank of England
  • Sumita Ghosh, Senior Manager for External Engagement and lead for MVP, Bank of England
  • Faraaz Hamza, MVP Project Manager, Bank of England
  • Nick Smith, Managing Director, Private Credit, AIMA

We welcome participants from the broadest possible range of backgrounds and experiences, including different socio-economic backgrounds. Attendees will not be asked to disclose personal characteristics. Participants simply self-identify as wishing to engage through the MVP initiative.
