Fireside Chat with Keith Black: Risk Ratings of Liquid Alternatives and Private Markets - Dry Powder in Canada

Canada

Early in 2019, the CAIA Association and AIMA Canada released a white paper proposing a new system to help reduce the complexity of current methods of risk ratings at investment dealer firms in Canada. This came as a response to the announcement that Alternative Mutual Funds, also known as Liquid Alternatives, are now available to both retail and institutional investors in Canada as well as given consistent feedback from AIMA member firms that retail risk ratings unfairly rate alternative products as high risk.

Please join us for an evening of discussion on these topics and more with Keith Black, Ph.D., CAIA, CFA and Rob Lemon, CFA as they review the evolution of these proposed risk ratings, review current regulations of alternative funds in Canada, and commentary on the status of Private Market Capital with a focus on the nearly $2.1 trillion in dry-powder, according to a recent McKinsey report.

Speakers:

  • Keith Black, Managing Director, Curriculum and Exams, CAIA
  • Rob Lemon, CFA, Executive Director, Prime Services, Group, CIBC Capital Markets

This event is co-hosted by CAIA Associations
