AIMA APAC Webinar: IOSCO STF Sustainability Recommendations

Hong Kong Singapore China Japan Australia ESG

AIMA is hosting a webinar to provide an overview of the key proposals in the Consultation and recent regulatory developments on the ESG front affecting asset managers, and to gather feedback which will be sent to the IOSCO STF.

The Sustainable Finance Taskforce established by the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (“IOSCO STF”), has published a Consultation Report on Recommendations on Sustainability-related Practices, Policies, Procedures and Disclosure in Asset Management (“Consultation”) on 30 June 2021.

The IOSCO STF has approached us to solicit views from AIMA’s members in response to the Consultation, which focuses on investor protection issues and proposes that securities regulators consider setting regulatory and supervisory expectations for asset managers regarding sustainability-related risks and opportunities. This Consultation also comes on the back of various regulatory developments in Asia focusing on enhanced disclosure requirements for asset managers, such as the recent revised SFC circular dated 29 June 2021 which requires more specific information to be disclosed for authorised funds and includes a new requirement for periodic ESG assessments. In Singapore, asset managers are expected to fully implement the MAS Guidelines on Environmental Risk Management by June 2022.
