AIMA APAC Webinar: Upcoming US outbound investment restrictions – APAC View

Hong Kong US Developments Virtual event

AIMA APAC invites you to join our webinar on 5 December.

Speculation has been growing about the outbound investment restrictions that the Biden administration is preparing and possibly additional legislation from the U.S. Congress on outbound investments.

Please join us for a discussion of the potential scope, timing, and impact of outbound investment restrictions from the Biden administration (and potentially from Congress) that may potentially restrict investments in certain sectors and certain countries for national security reasons.

AIMA will be exploring the potential implications of the expected Treasury regulations and potential legislation for investors with Laura Black, who led policy and international relations for the Committee on Foreign Investment in the US (CFIUS) while at the US Treasury Department.

We will be exploring key questions such as who will be subject to these outbound restrictions, what sectors will be included, and what countries will be included in the new screening process or outright investment prohibitions. The speakers will also be available to answer any questions about inbound investment restrictions as well.

Host:

  • Kher Sheng Lee, Managing Director, Co-Head of APAC and Deputy Global Head of Government Affairs, AIMA

Speakers:

  • Laura Black, Senior Counsel, Akin Gump
  • Joe Engelhard, Senior Counsel, US Policy & Regulation, AIMA
