AIMA Hong Kong (Manager-Only) Seminar: Cayman Islands Sanctioned Investors in Investment Fund Structures
AIMA invites you to this (Manager-only) seminar on Tuesday 27 May, 2025.
The conflict in Ukraine prompted a strong increase in sanctions in force in the UK and elsewhere, which has a consequential effect on Cayman Islands funds. A growing number of Cayman Islands funds continue to detect the presence of sanctioned investors through their due diligence procedures. Failing to comply with the sanctions regime can have very serious criminal and financial penalties for Cayman Islands funds, their directors and service providers. Funds and Fund Managers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the requirements and latest developments in the Cayman Islands sanctions regime, in order to be well-prepared should their Cayman Islands fund encounter a sanctioned investor.
Please join us to discuss the following:
- Cayman Islands sanctions framework
- Key Cayman Islands legislation
- Overview of the Cayman Islands regulators involved
- What to do when a sanctioned person is detected
- Ongoing issues in interactions with sanctioned persons
- Returning capital to fund investors
- Planning to liquidate a fund
AIMA Host:
- Michael Bugel, Managing Director, Co-head of APAC, AIMA
Speakers:
- James McKeon, Partner, Campbells Hong Kong
- Robert Searle, Partner, Campbells Hong Kong
