Breaking Barriers: Neurodiverse talent
AIMA Canada is proud to present our 6th annual Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion series, Breaking Barriers, on the topic of Neurodiversity.
The term neurodiversity relates to a brain that functions differently than a neurotypical brain. Neurodiversity is still largely overlooked in the asset management industry and neurodivergent brains may be misperceived as a disability when truly, many people with neurocognitive disabilities have varied skills and talents that they bring to their role and to the firm’s culture as a whole.
The panel will look to explore key topics such as:
- What is neurodiversity and what does it mean for individuals who are neurodivergent?
- Self-disclosure in the workplace and the fear of rejection
- Cognitive diversity and changing the narrative on different or divergent thinking
- The barriers that exist for neurodivergent brains, in recruitment, social settings and day-to-day work
- Accommodation for neurodivergent employees so they can thrive in their workplace environment
