How FICC might implement the new Treasury clearing mandate
Now that the SEC has finalized its Treasury clearing rule, please join us for a Q&A session with Laura Kimpel, General Manager at the Fixed Income Clearing Corporation(FICC), who will be leading FICC’s implementation of the SEC’s new cash Treasury and repo clearing mandates. How FICC implements key aspects of the new rule – such as central clearing, facilitation of greater access for indirect participants, margin, and customer protection requirements – largely will determine the impact on asset managers as well as the cash Treasury and repo markets.
Laura Klimpel, General Manager of FICC, will discuss and answer any questions about her company’s understanding of what the SEC rule requires of FICC, how it is likely to implement the new rules, and what changes might be helpful to new direct or indirect participants. In advance of this webinar, please email us with any questions you might have on the following topics, which can then be raised without attribution during the webinar:
- What cash Treasuries and repos will now have to be centrally cleared?
- How the new rules on margin and customer protection might affect your firm?
- What changes could FICC make to their existing clearing service options to facilitate greater access for your firm?
- What challenges might remain for cross-margining and done-away trades and how could FICC resolve them?
- Any other topic or question that you would like to raise?
Laura also will share her insights on her latest efforts to finalize the joint SEC-CFTC changes needed to increase cross-margining, as well as a looming threat in the new federal banking rules that might threaten its future availability. FICC has a number of resources currently on their website that describe the current clearing services for indirect participants, which can be accessed here: Indirect Participants - U.S. Treasury Clearing | DTCC
