The “retailisation” of private market strategies in Europe is now a key area of focus for asset managers and policymakers. Providing non-professional investors with access to private asset classes, such as private credit, private equity, and infrastructure, is being actively encouraged by policymakers through reform of the European Long Term Investment Fund (ELTIF) and introduction of the Long Term Asset Fund (LTAF) in the UK.

These fund vehicles also provide an opportunity for asset managers to expand and diversify the investor base for their private market strategies. This session will provide an overview of:

  • The key features and differences between ELTIFs and LTAFs;
  • The benefits and challenges of using ELTIFs and LTAFs; and
  • The current state of play regarding the reform and introduction of ELTIFs and LTAFs in the EU and UK.
