AIMA Webinar Replay: Treasury Management and Portfolio Finance amid Crisis

Treasury management and portfolio finance have gained sophistication and an elevated profile since the financial crisis of 2008. A comprehensive playbook for credit crises has been written since then, but we know “this time it’s different”, so what does that mean for alternative investment managers?

Citco reported last month that wire volumes shot up 43% in March, and collateral calls were up 62%.
Defining just how unprecedented our current market is, Finra recently noted that between March 9 and 18,  market circuit breakers have been hit four times. For context, in the entire 32 years these circuit breakers have existed, they’ve only been activated once prior to COVID-19.
Abn Amro confirmed a $200m loss after a single client was unable to meet margin calls, and Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has recently been sued by AG Mortgage Investment Trust, after the firm seized a large portfolio of its assets when it could not meet margin calls.
What adjustments are needed for the treasury management and portfolio financing playbook? This checklist pinpoints measures that can be taken and applicable sound practices. To elaborate further, Scotiabank joins AIMA for a practical discussion and Q&A for treasury and operations professionals. Please join us for this interactive webinar at 11:00 am (EDT) on Wednesday, June 17, 2020.
